Turquoise Bronze Fou - Bringing a 2,500-Year-Old Treasure to Life in Fabric
2026-05-12
We invited Grandma Luo Yifang (罗燕芳) to demonstrate how she recreates an ancient turquoise bronze fou using fabric, scissors, and decades of skill.

The fou is an ancient Chinese ritual vessel from the Zeng Kingdom, over 2,500 years ago.
Meet the Artisan

Luo Yifang is a Humen native. She taught herself cloth mosaic art using fabric scraps from Humen. Her work has been featured by the Humen Town Union and the Opium War Museum. When the Zeng Kingdom Bronze Exhibition opened, she created a series of cloth mosaic pieces inspired by the ancient artifacts.
The Art Class

Grandma Luo guides us through creating a turquoise bronze fou in fabric — from selecting textile colors to match the ancient patina, to cutting, layering, and stitching each piece into place.
