Handmade Fabric Applique Wall Art
A one-of-a-kind textile artwork. Once sold, it cannot be recreated.
A dramatic fabric mosaic capturing the spirit of the Opium War era — warships, forts, and the clash of empires rendered in silk, cotton, and brocade. The largest piece in our Humen series.
The Opium Wars (1839–1842 and 1856–1860) were a turning point in Chinese history — a clash of empires fought over trade, sovereignty, and the right to say no to opium. Humen, where Grandma Luo lives and works, was at the heart of this conflict.
This dramatic fabric mosaic depicts warships on the Pearl River, the smoke of battle, and the determination of a people facing overwhelming force. It is a tribute to resilience, memory, and the importance of knowing one's history.
The most complex piece in the Humen series. Warships are pieced from dark brocade and grey silk, with billowing sails cut from textured cotton. The smoke of battle uses over 50 tiny fabric fragments in layered greys, and the Pearl River water is rendered in flowing indigo strips.
A commanding piece for a formal living room, study, or institutional setting. Its dramatic scale and subject make it a conversation piece for anyone interested in Chinese history, maritime themes, or the meeting of East and West.
Because every fabric piece is selected, cut, and stitched by hand, the same artwork can never be recreated exactly. Small differences in fabric texture, color, and hand stitching make each piece unique.
